The interplay of absence and presence, of mass and void, reflects a design ethos rooted in the exploration of contrast, not only in material and form, but in emotion, function, and presence. It reflects a design language that respects mass but isn’t afraid to interrupt it with intentional voids. That negative space becomes as essential as the form itself, creating rhythm and inviting interaction.
Inspired by the bold character of its namesake, the Robusta Chair asserts a grounded presence through its monolithic, arched frame. A perfectly round aperture carved into the backrest disrupts the mass with intentional negative space, creating a dialogue between solidity and openness, and speaking to a philosophy of harmony through opposition. Upholstery introduces warmth and tactility, while discreet brass accents speak to precision and craft.
